That Susannah Stringfellow was the wife of this Thomas Smith should be considered speculative and requires additional evidence. This speculation is based on the following evidence. A book, Relatives Along the Rappahannock2 by Shelby Haedler has several pages on Stringfellow genealogy in which it is stated that Susannah Stringfellow, born 28 December 1762 married Thomas Smith and moved to Culpeper Co.. This book has minimal documentation. During this period of time, late 1700's and early 1800's there was one Thomas Smith in Culpeper Co / Madison Co. The death record of Thomas Smith in Madison Co 1877 states that his parents were Thomas Smith and Susannah. Susannah was born on 28 December 1762 at Culpeper Co, Virginia, USA.1 She was the daughter of James Stringfellow and Susannah (?). She married Thomas Smith (I) circa 1780 at Culpeper Co, Virginia, USA.1 Susannah died before 1848 at Madison Co., Virginia, at age at an unknown age . Relatives Along the Rappahannock lists place of death as Culpeper Co. More likely in that part of Culpeper which became Madison Co. which is where this family lived..
